Default 91 F2 engine swap for a F3

Hi,

New to the forums and I did a search on engine swaps and found references to the 93 F2 to the 95 F3 engine swap but nothing for a 91 F2

I am not sure which year the F3 motor is but I wanted to see if it was a easy swap between the two.

Thanks for all the great info I used to own a 91 F2 back in Germany which was Red and White. I just picked up a 91 F2 locally here in Reno and the guy also has a F3 motor which has low miles on it.

I also have a 02 VFR800 for the street and a 05 SV650 race bike. I just finished my first season with the AFM #794

Alan

from the research i have been doing myself..Im hearing that, that swap isnt even worth it for another 5-10 hp if that..but i think with any swap like that you will have to relocate the mounting points just alil bit.

I found a 91 for sale in the classifieds that has a F3 98 engine in it so I assume it can be done. I dont want to do a lot of work to get it done

I got the Carbs pulled today on the F2 motor, so they can be cleaned and setup again.

Looking forward to actually getting to ride it soon

Thanks for taking the time to reply

Cold but sunny here in Reno, pretty good riding as the roads have not had any snow on the yet so not much sand to worry about[8D]

95-96(not sure on 97-98) F3 motors should be a direct bolt on affair..just use existing wiring harness and carbs.

I found out the F3 engine is a 98 so not sure if that makes a difference or not?

I can get a good deal on the engine adn a bunch of F3 parts but I am not sure if I should take it or not

I'd take the deal at least, worst case scenario you could always sell the stuff later if you cant use it and make a few bucks more than you bought it for.

I'm fairly sure that the motor is the same for the 95-98's, I think only the 97 & 98 body style was different. One of the other members who raced F2's said it is worth the upgrade and is a direct swap you can use harness and ecu and the 5-10 HP is a HUGE difference plus it has a much better tranny so it shifts smoother.
