My preference for the CBR600F2 would be for Bridgestone BT023. Another option would be the Dunlop Roadsmart III.

Also depends upon what kind of riding you're doing. Commuting? Mountain twisties? Trackdays.. C, B, A-group? Racing?

So I've got three CBRs. The 89 hasn't really been run since the tires were put on because I've been fighting the carbs. It had sat for 12 years when I got it. (I had the exact same bike new back in 1989)

i find the 90 more fun to ride than the 88 and as I was sitting reading this thread it occurred to me to go see what tire sizes were on them. Here's what I found.1988
Rear Dunlop Sportsman Roadsmart II 160/60ZR17

Front Pirelli Diablo 110/70ZR17

1989
Rear Bridgestone Battleax BT45. 140/70ZR17

Front Bridgestone Battleax BR45 110/80-17

1990
Rear Bridgestone Battleaxe BT45R 140/80B17

Front Bridgestone Battleaxe BT45R 110/80-17

Thinking that the rear 160 might be making that '88 handle differently and contribute to my perceptions.

maybe
the wear on the head bearings is a major influence on agility. the roller bearings over the original worn ball bearings are fabulous.

I've checked the bearings but not disassembled so don't know their condition. Not feeling any movement that would indicate wear, but at some point a tear down wouldn't be a bad idea. I plan to do complete front ends on both the '88 and the '90. Fork seals, bushings, fluid, plus steering head bearings. It's on the list of things to do.

Where does one acquire the new roller bearings and is there a parts cross reference. (Getting a little OT so if you want to PM me with a source or a link to the discussion thread that would be appreciated)

Also, to get back on topic, since the front tire is a Pirelli I ordered the 140 Pirelli for the rear. It will be interesting to see the difference.
