I searched, but didn't find anything. I would have assumed that there's already a thread that addresses this, so if there is one please point that way.

there are a various threads on the topic.
yes you can fit a 170 rear tire, as well as a 180, but with a 180 on f3 rims, the tire deforms a bit. can make cornering sketchy
