REAR TIRE ???
Gday crew- hows things? I got my 600 new last Nov.and am up for my 6k/4kmile service . Im interested tohear from you guys that have used the stock tire that comes with the bike.(Dunlop Sportmax d218)
Impraying Im goin to make it down the workshop this Sat. b4 itblows. I say "come on honda", at least supply a deacent tire with an outstanding machine!!! It is definatley a soft compound tire- too soft!So my question is how many miles did you get out of this tire on the 600rr and please advise me of a tire that will hold up to a bit of thrashing! -best reguards, Kearnsy!

RE: REAR TIRE ???
My bike ( 06 600rr) came with Michelin Pilots, which I understand to be standard for the US bikes in 06 ( Not sure though). So far these are great although I am just now getting to 3k miles, and no track days or extended hours of aggressive riding. Perhaps try a search on reviews for the Dunlop tire and see if you wear rate is normal.
Good luck,
Chris.

RE: REAR TIRE ???
Between the first owner putting app. 4,800 on the tires, and myself putting about 300 miles on them, my rear was spent at about 5,100 miles. The front looks to be in good order for now. Mine was also the Dunlop Sportmax. That sort of range seems adequate as far as tread wear goes.

RE: REAR TIRE ???
yeah those 218's aren't soft compound, soft compound tires you stick your finger on and the finger acutally sticks to the tire and thats when the tire is still cold...
as far as which is a good tire, I'm not really a dunlop guy, I'm switching to Michelin for racing season so I gotta say get some Pilot Powers
thats not based on any experience or any kind of knowledge, just a random thought lol

RE: REAR TIRE ???
Was at 3800 miles with my stock tire with quite a bit of tread left.........then a damn screw happened..........and now a Qualifier is on instead. When it comes time to replace that (and the front), they're probably going to be Metzlers or Michelin's or Pirelli's, have to do some research first.
