Single click at solenoid/relay no start
The short of it is that my solenoid/relay (I can't tell which is which) gives a single click when I try to start my bike. There is no turnover. I replaced the old battery with a new fully charged battery with no improvement.
None of the cables look corroded. However the negative lead from the battery is missing some rubber and the exposed wiring looks rusted
The long version: Some time ago I was trying to start my bike in subfreezing temperatures (about 25F) the starter cranked a few times then started getting a single click from the solenoid. The next day I came back when it was above freezing and had no issue starting it.
A few weeks later I ride my bike to church in subfreezing temps again. Every two hours I go out to start it and run it for a bit to make sure my lines don't freeze over. After church I get a ride out to lunch starting the bike for a minute before I go. A few hours later I come back and try to start it. The engine cranks once then I get the single click again.
The next day I plan to come back to try and start it but we wind up getting several inches of ice overnight and my bike is stuck in the parking lot for the next two weeks. Once the ice melts I go back to church to start it with no luck. Jumping it did not help.
I now have to bike home but I can't determine what is causing the problem. Any input would be appreciated.

when you replaced with a fully charged battery did it make any difference at all when you first cranked it? thinking maybe the battery isnt charging properly when engine is running. also did you try changing the fuse?? also a faulty starter motor will drain the battery.
According to the factory manual.... If you hear the click, then apply battery voltage to the starter motor directly and see if the motor turns or not. If it turns then it's either a bad wire connection/ loose cable OR the "solenoid/relay (I can't tell which is which) " (they are one and the same) is bad. If it doesn't turn.. then the starter motor may be bad.
Remember to check battery voltage before and after you troubleshoot.

Since it was from 2009, I'm not sure anyone is going to know. Especially since the person with the original problem only posted to this site 3 times. I'd suggest starting another thread, describe your problem and the things you have tried and observed.
