new clutch, special tools?
I am considering getting new pressure plates, friction plates and springs for my clutch, any special tools needed? impact wrench or anything? I didn't think so, just not sure if people usually did use anything other than hand tools. thanks, Eric
There is a clutch center holder, im not sure how nessary it is, or if it just makes life easyier.
Also I don't think it says in the manual, but you need to soak the friction plates in some fresh oil (same kind as your going to use in your motor) overnight
Your gonna need a new lock nut, and a drill to get the old one off, and a punch to restake the new one.
new gaskets, good torque wrench. maybe even replace the bearing while your at it.

where is the bearing? I have the manual but was just curious, like you said, about the clutch center holder being NEEDED or just nice to have. and for a drill you mean just a regular battery drill with a good bit? thanks a lot! Eric
hey dude, just replaced my clutch last year. No you dont need the clutch center holder but you will need a friend to assist. When you are ready to remove the clutch basket retaining bolt put the bike in gear and get your friend to hold the rear brake and try to hold the rear tire from moving. If your clutch was torqued properly it should work fine.
Check your clutch basket for play as well. The rivets holding them to the flywheel get worn and loose over time.
