Default Idle speed

So I'm still working on this 89 600f I just bought, hasnt run in 6 months(maybe bad fuel). Fuel pump is dead supposedly. but it should still run, bad but still run I would think. I checked all elec except coils. Bought a new batt and it sounds like it wants to run but once you let off starter it dies few seconds later. I'm asking about idle speed screw cause preveous owner turned it back and forth when we were trying to start it with a bad battery. Any ideas on where to go from here?

If you can't keep it running with the throttle, the idle screw won't help you. I'd look elsewhere. Are you using your choke at all?

I tried with and without choke. Someone from here give me a haynes manuel online but its kind hard to read. I can continue working with the fuel screw.
