hesitation problems (I have included pics)
so my 87 cbr600 hesitates. when i come from a dead stop i have to get the rpm's to about 8000. when riding at cruising speeds the bike stutters. if i try to accelerate the problem gets worse then the bike accelerates. I included pics because when i rev the engine fuel leaks out of a hose that is disconnected. the hose was disconnected before with no issues. also there is a ?fuel filter? with two open ports for hoses. i am assuming that both spots need to be hooked up. i just do not want to do it incorrectly. any other insight on my problem is helpful.
Thanks

First of all, download yourself a copy of the factory manual here.

Sounds like you have a carb that is overflowing through the overflow tubes. Perhaps a stuck carb bowl float? The fuel filter is located close to the tank fuel shut off behind the left side fairing cover and no, there are no open ports on the fuel filter. Follow the fuel hoses from the gas tank shut off **** and the filter is the first thing in line. If what you are referring to in the second pic as the fuel filter with 2 open ports, then that is most likely an emission control device, either the purge control valve ( PCV) or air vent control valve ( AVCV). At least one of these is supposed to have an open port. You may have a California bike with emission controls on it. Perhaps someone removed the canister, some of the little tubes or both. You will have to do some VIN research to figure it out. Even if these components are disconnected, it probably won't give you the problems indicated as you said you had none prior to the fuel leak issue. Perhaps your carbs need a good cleaning which is a well known issue on these bikes just due to age. Download the manual, take a look at it.Well worth the time.
