Was fun while it lasted 😢
Absolute nightmare with this lol trying to figure out the gear forks and the gear shift and it was actually so easy to do but if you don’t get shown something and you have to just figure it out !! Man I went all around the houses it took me about a week to figure that out , basically you need to just find a gear which you get the most movement from the left and right forks and your middle moves as free as it can , make sure that there all seated correctly in the grooves, as you turn the drum with your hand trying to select a gear sometimes it can make the left and right forks not seat correctly so they are almost seized, as you lower the case you need to get your figure in and guide the middle fork and make sure it sits in between , lol I got there in the end tomorrow my mate brings a jack over and I’ll get it back in and then from there I just have to get everything connected . I know this bike ain’t worth much I but on eBay for 1.5 but no interest at all I think I would be lucky to get 800€ for it but Yh I think what I’ve learnt is pricleds and who ever does get it I can give it away knowing I’ve poured everything in to it
Absolutely Mate, you have learnt something you will never forget. I know more about CX500's now than i ever did, since I bought one last year and had to rip into it, and the best thing is, we can help others now. Your thread has been interesting and very informative, and no doubt about it, will help loads of others

Any one got anytips on getting this carb in to the intake manifolds 🫠I tryed for a good hour with the runners on the engine and trying to push down the carb on to it but there’s no chance so now I’m thinking to put the runners in the carb and press that down on to the engine ??
Take your vitamins....
A good thing to try is to take a hair dryer and warm them up. That will make them playable. I normally install the boots onto the carbs first then put the whole thing on the manifold. You will feel a snap of sorts when they seat properly.

You can treat carb-rubbers with oil of wintergreen to soften them back to OEM condition.
Add little bit of silicone/rubber grease to carb-tubes that push into rubbers.
I've used ratchet-strap around whole thing to gently squeeze carbs in.
Reach in with long flat-tip screwdriver to wiggle out areas where carb-rubbers are pinched.
