change plugs?? Tool??
i dont remember which one i used, but its not a standard (meaning the ones with the rubber in them) spark plug socket, it was like 11mm or something like that, just try them all and you will find it, thats what i did.
The plugs I have are NGK plugs and they have a larger then I would think normal (bolt on them) I am wondering if they are the right plugs. I gave the auto parts store the NGK number and they did a cross refference on them and gave me some plugs.
Please don't put automotive plugs in your motorcycle. NGK make the best plugs for motorcycles. And no, they prob. weren't the wrong plugs. The base, or "nut" as you called it, is going to be big so that you can get the correct amount of torque on the plug. Yes there is a special socket that is made for deep spark plug wells. Some bikes have them in their factory toolkit. Prob. what is keeping your socket from getting to the spark plugs is the valve cover gasket where it goes around the plug hole. I've made my own spark plug tool before with a deep socket and a lathe (just cut enough metal from around the outside until it fits. But there are narrow-walled sockets out there. More than likely it's going to be a 16mm or 18mm socket that fits your plugs.
Well I went to the cycle shop today and got the right plugs for the bike. Come to find out the guy at the auto parts store sold me the wrong plugs. They were twice as wide as the correct plugs and was told that they run alot hotter also. So Now I can use the right tool that i always had for the plugs.
