Bike runs like **** with less then 10l of gas in it
hey all
My hurricane is hauling ***...... only when I have a full tank though ........
the tank is 16.5l.............. my first tank ever (that I owned the bike at least) took me 150kms before I had to switch to reserve, ran great in the "on" position and in the "res" position. ever since the bike runs like a bag of **** whenever the tank gets under around 10l , I go fill up and it runs good again,
if the tank has 10l or under in it the bike just seems to sputter or like it has a lack of power, or it stumbles at part throttle, and once I goose her it sorts it self out and takes off. I'm thinking that the bottom half of the vertically fitted in tank filter on the petcock is clogged or dirty so it can't get the fuel when the tank is lower in gas, this leads me to believe that this is the problem, literally as soon as I fill up to the brim again, fire it up and she is spirited and hauls again.
any thoughts ?
or should I just replace all the filters I possibly can, air filter, in tank petcock filter and inline filter and go from there ? the bike has only 9000 ORIGINAL miles on it, or around 16000kms on it.
it's just annoying that I gotta fill up after like 100kms or 60mi even though there is still like 1/2 tank. makes for a cheap fill up but a very short and limited distance.
what octane does this bike require, I have the service manual and couldn't find what octane is required.
thanks again for any input

Okay did the new petcock and filter (the whole unit) and the external filter .. the bike runs good with low gas now but she seems like she is missing,
18000 oroginal kms on all original parts,
due for a full carb tune up, was told there is a stage 1 jet kit in her when I bought her
any input would be helpful, so far everyone on here has been exeptionally helpful
thnaks
