Default Suspension Settings?

[align=left]Hi, can someone please post the recommended suspension settings listed in the June '06 copy of "Sportrider". I am a newbie at monkeying around with the suspension and this may be a good starting point. Oh, I am 6'2" and 200lbs, will their listed settings be way off for someone my size? Thanks all... Default RE: Suspension Settings?

Does anyone adjust their suspension settings? I bought my '06 1000rr in June of last year about a month or so after this paticular issue of "Sportrider" came out. This was the issue where they tested the new and improved 1000rr. Is this the wrong place, should this be in 1000 mods??
Thanks,

No web site (or person on the internet) can tell you what your suspension settings should be. Each bike is unique in this regard. Your suspension needs to be tailored for YOU and YOUR riding style. People on the internet cannot tell you what that should be.

What various web sites can do is tell you how to set up your suspension for yourself.

First set up your sag. Otherwise the other settings will make never fall into place.

Having said that....don't be surprised if your stock suspension cannot be set up for your because the springs are likely not stiff enough for your weight. In this case, the only way to properly set up your suspension is to invest in new fork springs and valving.

I agree that a suspension on a sportbike such as ours SHOULD be set for each individual rider; however, I am not that skilled nor am I willing to pay $$$ to have someone properly set it up. So I recently changed mine from the stock setting to the recommended setting as stated by Sportrider Magazine.

I am not very skilled when compared to some of the people I ride with, but I definately noticed a difference in the curves with my new suspension settings. Bleow is a link to the sportrider website with their suggested settings. I would definately get your suspensioned set to your specifications, if you can. If not, this is certainly better that the stock settings.

Thanks for the link Onarom. I realize everyone is different in their abilities, but with this info it would seem to make a good starting point. As I said in the beginning I am a noob, definitely not anything resembling a "Pro". I do get the idea that most folks are not as big hence the XL in my jacket on that little tag, but surely I will not have to purchase all new suspension parts at least at my meager skills. Thanks again...
