Default STRANGE NOISES

i have a 04 1000rr about 45hundy miles.
at around 3k RPM, as i squeeze the thottle.
i hear a fast clicking sound.... very lightly.. hard to hear...
but when there is something next to me... it reverberates and
the sounds becomes clear as heck..

PLUS. When i apply my front brakes moderately,
i hear the chain very loudly.... like a BICYCLE !!! hah

....ONE MORE question guys.... help me-
i busted my front fork seals..
the honda dealer here in Hollywood wants 200 buks for just labor.
i have the parts....
is this BS ??
anyone who can point me in the right direction?
i need to find a good mechanic around LA...
someone straight forward...

THANKS guys! SAFE RIDING~

The engine is a high powered machine -- it makes a little mechanical racket. If you hear something that just sounds wrong -- grinding, squealing or unusually loud tapping/ticking -- then have it checked out. From what you describe it seems like you're hearing the exhaust when next to something. That's a normal thing -- personally I love going through tunnels or low bridges and cranking the throttle.

If your chain is making a racket on hard braking then it's probably too slack - check the tension. A loose chain will slap and is more likely to break. On moderate braking it would be strange to hear the chain -- I sometimes hear the rotors whirring from the holes.

Fork seals -- I'd pay $1000 for someone else to do the fork seals. I hate fork seals. Quite likely the only thing I personally won't touch on a bike[:@]

The labor for changing seals is about 3 hours since you have to remove the wheel, fender, and the forks themselves. And then disassymble the legs to clean out the old stuff, replace the seals, add the fluid, seal it up and reverse the procedure ..so if you calculate the rate ( which I am expecting to be at least $60 an hour or more) that is about right
Check your exhaust header bolts and make sure they torqued down..that is possible source of the sound

About the noise, I hear the same clicking. It drives me nuts. But I have heard it since zero miles and everyone I talk to says it is normal. I like you only hear up against a solid object. I did not want to believe it but yes it is normal sound.

About Hollywood, Go somewhere else bro. I know 3 of the mechanics in there and I really can't say anything good about them. Matter of fact, I can't say anything goos about that shop period.
