Default K&N Air Filter

Anybody have an opinion on using a K&N Air Filter on a 2007 CBR 1000RR? The bike is 320 miles new, but I have heard K&N Air Filters are good and that is the way to go. I have also heard some people say that K&N Air Filters give to much air to themotor and that it affects the performance. Please advise either way. Thanks!!!

Default RE: K&N Air Filter

there are a lot of threads on this. on the rc51 it was proven on the dyno that the K&N hurts performance just for ****s and giggles. it is generally accepted that the BMC race filter is better than the K&N. but even then it was only good for about 2hp when installed on back to back oem to BMC race filter dyno runs.

honestly and technically you dont need it. i have the bmc because it weighs less than oem and it can be cleaned and reused. by itself you wont get much of a gain. now with a pipe, pc3 and custom map you might see a bit of performance.

To each their own.

I'm personally not a big fan.
