State Farm. I pay 348/year for an '06 1000rr. I Have 2 cars, a house, and now the bike with them which qualified me for a multiple vehicle discount. (can't remember how much but every little bit helps.) I'm not sure you'll get a good rate if you just choose to insure just your bike through them though. Either way be sure to include them in your search. Good luck.

I'm paying $650 a year with statefarm. When I was looking into it all the other companies I looked at wanted to charge anywhere between $4000 and $12000 a year. They're out of their mind. I could buy a new bike every year.

I just got off the phone with Progressive Insurance. I’m buying insurance for the new 06 1000RR that I pick up next Tuesday. Progressive considers the 1000RR a high performance bike so the premium is high. The agent told me the collision coverage is the killer. Full coverage is going to cost me about $800. The same coverage on the 2000 Harley is $330.

I think that the $800 is high due to the type of bike and not so much driving record and age. I have a clean record and I can’t remember current events when I was 30. Something about the Civil War rings a bell.

DUDE. WITHOUT A DOUBT IT'S BECAUSE OF THE TYPE OF BIKE.

Check out State Farm if they are in your area... they just go by CC, not bike type. I pay less on my 1000RR than I do on my Goldwing and the wing is 2 years older. The wing is 1800 vs 1000. The F4i I had and my wifes Shadow were almost the same... just the F4i was newer only like $2-$3 difference per month.

Also, where you live, credit rating, driving record, etc. all come in to play so call around and see what works best for you.

usually you don't have to have full coverage when your lean holder says you do becasue they bank or honda or whoever will just charge you an extra few payments to get their own insurance on you. My mother and mother in law both oversee 5 banks between them, and that is what they told me. If your lean holder doesn't get confirmation from your insurance company that they just take out their own policy against you and you have to pay for it in the long run, and I don't think they even have to notify you that they did it because its in the original lean contract somewhere in that little print. You may want to ask cbr04 about it...he used to work for my mom and now is with another bank...but he would probably know, or could ask his loan officers to find out.

Sounds like most of you are getting jacked by high prices. I only pay 26.00 a month full cov. on my Repsol. I'm with State Farm and have 2 cars plus my house ins. w/ them. I am also married with a 5 month old. I will tell you one thing.....Geico is about the worst company you can call since their rates are rediculous and even if they quote you it's always for liability only. Geico = [sm=lame.gif]

Hello,

I just took out a motorcycle policy with Progressive, who I found the most reasonable. The next closest was GMAC. Both are good companies and 2 years ago when I had another bike GMAC was much less than anyone else. So I guess it varies widely by the type of bike (sportbike v. standard, etc) and also varies greatly if you have cars/home, etc insured with them. My auto/home carrier will not insure sport bikes, so I went outside just to get a bike policy.

Usually carrying higher deductibles will also help.

Good luck.
