everyone has made a good piont ... just remeber: hospitals think of us as organ doners, also there are 2 type of riders: those who been down and those who are going down.

i got my first cbr f2 when i was 23 and it was still too much power for me at the time, the rear end came up from under me a threw me off about 50 feet luckly i landed in a nice soft grassy area. i was lucky enough to only lose a toe nail and had my arm in a sling for 3 months.

all i'm trying to say no matter how big or small the motorcycle, you can really get hurt or kick the bucket if you are not carefull.

ride safe to all, and see you on the streets.

You know yourself better than anyone but be honest. I`ve been riding 5 years I wouldn`t say i`m rossi or anything but i`d say i`m a fast learner, I started at 18 on a 400. Was very confident and didnt have many mistakes but i did make some, and although its a general rule and not always the way, the bigger the bike normally means the faster you`ll go, just cos you can.

I personally know for fact that some mistakes i made whilst learning more on the 400 would`ve killed me if it had been a 1000, even though i never actually fell of it. I`d have been going faster = more control needed to correct the mistake. I`m still learning 5 years on and i wouldn`t say i`m slow.

So you know whats best for you, be honest. If you think you`ll be able to control yourself and not blast open the throttle go for it, but can you? I couldn`t.

But the main problem for me, falling off is an expensive hobbie. even IF you don`t get injured. You could easily fall of and fix a 400 3-4 times when the once on a thou would empty your bank for a long time. Unless of course money is no object in which case do what ya like. I`m honest I don`t wanna die, lookin cool will come when you know what your doing.

Oh and............ you can still corner like a god on a 125!! you just won`t be able to keep up the pace on the straight bits.

Stupid is as stupid does...

1) Where does the powerband kick in on a 1k?
2) How much braking power is on the front brake?
3) How should you do a quick stop in a curve?

These are just 3 questions of hundreds that you should know. If you can't answer any of these, you definately don't want to find out the hard way on 1kcc. Start out lower with a used 600cc. If you make if your first 6 months without killing yourself or getting killed, you'll be well on your way. Make sure you take an approved safety course first and foremost. MSF...MSF...MSF

If you're going to go with a 1000RR for a new bike, why not go ahead and get a turbo busa or a zx-12R with a 60 shot of nitrous [sm=lildevil.gif]

I wish I would of learned a 600 first, I learned on a 1000 first, my friend has a R-1 and taught me, it all depends on ya style of riding I guess. If I ride a 600 now it feels like I'm on a tricycle.
