Default Is a 600 a good bike for a beginner

Hello everyone, I'm a newbiw and I need some advise from more experienced riders. I've been riding a 250r for this season after completing my MSF course. I've enjoyed the 250r, but since I'm 5'10" 260 pounds (former linebacker) I'm starting to feel sorry for the bike and I want to move up to a bigger bike. I've been thinking a katana 600 or a SV650, but I've always liked the cbr600 f3, f4's. I know it's faster than both the other bikes I've mentioned. do you think the leap from a 250r to a cbr600?

having experience on a 250 r youll be fine with a F3 of F4 or F4i.....excellent choice on moving up slow, but this is a jump you can make safely. as long as you are in the right frame of mind.

F4i is quicker than the SV650 in the top end, but the SV650 is no slouch lol. It's got more low end grunt then the F4i. But Having good experience on your 250, I think you'll make the transition just fine.

yeah i agree with these guys man get rid of the 250r and step up to the big league you will enjoy it much more and wont ever get smoked by some grandma in a old camry. yeah you should be able to handle these more new bikes like a champ seeeing how you do have the experience now. good luck i hope you make the right decision on a bike.

I think that you are smart to be concerned, but you'll be fine. To go from a bicycle to a 600 is a leap. Good luck and have fun shopping!

Thanks for the advise. I know it;s a big difference in power so I want to be cautious. Is there a big difference between the cbr and the katana?

The CBR F4i is alot more comforatable to ride from what I've been told by a katana rider that rode mine. I think you'll transition fine.

Go with F4i for sure, was my first bike with no experience, very easy to get adjusted too, you will be fine. Spend the extra 1000 and get an F4i, leave the Katana where it is.

I think you'll be fine bro! I mean most sport bike riders actually start on 600's, and alot of F4i's... I don't think to many of us started on anything smaller! Actually, I had a 1983 Honda Shadow 500 when I was in high school! lol,, trust me, that didn't help! But you'll be fine! Get a corbin seat! TRUST ME!!! Your *** will thank you!
