I started riding in '67 on a used '65 Suckzuki 250 (2-stoke). By '93 I was done playing road racer and bought a sport touring bike, my current CBR100F. I still ride it because I can ride over 800 miles in a day and still be ready to party that night. It's never left me standed - '75 CB500F, weak ingition switches, loss of contact,- '81 CB 900F burned exhaust vales. I have 39k miles on the CBR now after being off it for a few years. I'm glad to be back riding. I think the hard staring issue made me reluctant to ride then. I now plug into a Battery Tender every night and the the old CBR is ready to go no matter how long I've let her sit.
We're not the fastest combo in the world. My son was always faster in the twisties on his '96 CBR 600F3 but he turned out to be one of the top amatour road racers in this country from '99-'01. He always trophied at the Amatour Nationals on that old F3 that his old man built for him. He got married , gave up racing and now rides an '05 600RR.
We meet sometimes on I-84 and ride together to work in the morning. I can still suprise him with the acceleration of the big CBR when we hit the exit 15 on ramp. hehe.

Now I don't approve of wild riding or dangerous stunts on motorcycles but they have the ability to do things only supercars can dream of. This story just confirms my love of their abilities and why I love my 1000F.
I commute to work and with a hour ride each way and years of riding, you see the same people every day. I guess you know each other in some strange disconnected way. Twice daily I pass bikes, cars and some times they pass me. Last week, I'm watching my mirrors and see a white Mustang GT coming up at warp speed. Since we're on a highway, I keep my pace steady at 80 mph in the right hand lane. A convertible 2007 Mustang GT C/S edition with the top down powers by and the guy driving who beeps the horn and waves.
I see him every day but am surprised since he normally obeys the speed limit. I stay within sight of him for a few miles. Then we come to this open, flat section that you can see for miles. Yep, you guessed right. I had to say hello again. I dropped down to 4th gear and snapped the throttle. It was as if he threw out a 100 ton anchor. As I passed him I eased into 6th gear and see 145 on the speedo. I pop up from my tuck and quickly slow down to 80 mph and 4 minutes later I'm passed again.
Mustang Jim just shook his head, gave me two thumbs up and nailed it. I'm sure he hit 100 mph before backing off. I just kept the speed "low" at 80 and finished my ride to work. What a way to start your day! A 13 year old bike with enough power to lay shame to cars cost 10-20 times more. Don't follow my lead! Please ride safe, JD

Good story, bassman.
So, you like to bass fish, eh? I love it. People can keep their crazy trout, I love the bass fishing. I have a couple pics of me with a 20.5" largemouth I caugt last year. Big fat one, too...
We're supposed to be making a trip out for stripers in late Nov. Should be a blast.
leanit, I know what you mean. You gotta remind 'em who's boss once in a while..
Although, you have to pick your battles. There are very few cars on the road that are gonna take a 'Cane on the highway, and a stock mustang isn't one of 'em. My one friend has an old 'stang that runs high 9's at the track. He'd give me a run on the street.... but...
I tried to coax a lambo the other day, just for chits and giggles. He didn't want any...

But like you said.... I don't condone any of this..

All looked a bit close for me ...
not the cars or the speed so much , as the bikes in and out running close , using hand signals that did not seem to work ..
I cant stand other bike running fast all over the place around me ...
I personally would rather do a bolt and get bloody clear to have my fun in peace
and BTW- all you unregistered kids at home that may be reading this forum ...
we do not advocate the type of riding in these vids as a preferred or safe way to ride !!!

I took the Mrs out for her first double date with my girl (Ms). I was kinda nervous tackling both of them at the same time, but like any guy eased into it like I "knew" what I was doing. We didn't get beyond "3rd" base but now the Mrs knows my Ms. At one point I thought Mrs was gonna squeeze my guts out, but when our ride was done all 3 three of us were grininng ear to ear. Mrs can't wait to next time
Now she knows why we all ride our Canes
And if ya like Striper fishing book a trip out West......

Good ebening guys
Me , when i left motorcycling past in 87 i said, if i ever come back to it, it would be a hurricane!
well now i own it and loving every minute of it,!
8 mint condition with a few minor mods, (see my pics)
Here is two stories that will make ou prud
@ eeks ago me and my friend were up north ans decide to sawp bikes, he has a 2001 zx-9 r, i felt more comfy on my bike , but it has quicker handing, yes it runs fine but i oprefer the cane and noe for the fun part:
He was surprised at how quick and it was and surprised by the habdling he did not feel it sluggish , nor slow, but what is a6000rpm? Shadow calls it the Hurricane effect and he loved the pull from 6000 and up. but he loved and did not pushed it too much cause it was not is but he was impressed.
Tghe week before we went for a ride and for a while i was looking at the Triumph Sprint st1050 well guess what i got on it , it pulls fine and everything but except for a bit of legspace i had the felling on being on the hurricane with a bit less power.. i keepmy cane!
As for my friend whom tried the hurricame, said he did not see that much difference from the his Triumph except that it was quicker and responded fast to inpu he told me he did not fell like he was on a 1988 mortorcycle, he had the feeling it was solid in one piece and taht the components were still top nocht
Guys we gotwinners with our bikes, let's keep them!
