Thanks Guys. Yeah Lachlan is a natural biker. Its a pleasure having one so young that can take part in appropriate adult conversation. He can talk bikes, guns, whatever......He just loves bikes and takes any opportunity he can to come out with me. Might take him to Melbourne this year to the expo in November. Hey Steve you up for a weekend in the city mate in late November ??

fired it up last night after getting home. took a little cranking to get gas into the carbs but it ran perfect the first try. didnt even need the choke after about 20 seconds of running. purrs like a kitten...with straight exhaust.

the woman said its too loud. i think she is too whiney.

videos and pictures to come tonight. be prepared.

That's funny, it's not the bike that's too loud, but the woman complaining about it. That's the spirit!

i lied. the bike ran like crap so i got frustrated and tore it apart again. it was running SUPER rich (<10.0 AFR) and the vent tube that goes from the carbs to the gas tank was clogged...not the gas tank vent tube..

i also drove it to the gas station to fill it up with the straight exhaust. it sounded absolutely horrible so i put the muffler back on. sounds much better now.

pictures and video to come tomorrow, promise.

i took some pictures to describe what im talking about.

the rear, throttle side of carb #2 has this port:

this port has this tube connected to it, which has two pieces. in between the two pieces there is a black plastic piece that could possibly be a flow restrictor or a one way valve, i am not sure:

that tube connects to this port on the bottom of the gas tank:

My question is, do i need that plastic piece that was internal to the rubber line? i blew it into the street and its long gone. if i DO need it then i'll need to order a new one since it was where the clog was present in my system anyway. if i DON'T need it then ill just run a new hose from there to the gas tank and be done with it.

when i pulled this line off the gas tank while i was out riding the bike stayed running and rode normally (as normal as it would with being how rich it was. dont worry, i went down jet sizes now). hope that helps to explain.
