Stupid oil Question
I refuse to deal with my Local Honda Dealership due to Rudeness and Extremely High Prices, so...
I went to the Yamaha Shop and bought SUZUKI 4 Stroke oil for my '88.
My manual says SF or SE oil, (this oil I bought says MEETS or EXCEEDS sf/sg). Is that the same as SF?
Is it Safe for my Bike?

Yes, it is ok. Beware automotive oil which contails friction modifiers (Energy Saving, usually has an Energy Star on the package) as this will screw the wet clutch. You can also obtain inexpensive 4-STroke MC Dino oil at Wal-Mart, IIRC less than $3.00 per quart.
I chickened out and went to the Honda Shop, only thing, they didn't carry SF or SE oil.
I ended up consulting a Saleman, and Mechanic that said the SJ oil would work fine.
Changed my oil with 4 quarts of the SJ, and everything seems fine.
Thanks for your input and answers.

Motorcycle oil normally don’t rate higher than API SG. Higher ratings could mean they have friction modifiers to reduce fuel consumption in car engines. So, SJ sounds as a car oil to me, but if is JASO approved anddeclared to be awet clutch motorcycleoil it is fine.
Hey i remember when i was dirt poor and running Castol GTX in my bike!! lol Car oil works when you are in a pinch! lol But not recommended. I learned from my broke ways and haven't done it since!

I'll check to see if the Oil is JASO. Thank you!
