i cut the red output wire from the rr and ran it straight to the battery positive, because you get a lot of voltage drop in the orginal loom, also if yr reg is putting in to much voltage i would question the remake rr unit, you shouldnt be going through 6 regs something else is wrong, a bad stator can blow a rr unit, but u have replaced both so seems strange, i would get another rr unit form a differnt manufactorer and try that 90% of the time the rr unit is the fault my 2c

Gill, does FastCycle have a website? I need a R/R for my 90 CBR1000F and I thought that $112 US was a little high.

I just purchased 2 used original reg/recs (part no SH261-12) on e-Bay UK, for a total of $50 INCLUDING POSTAGE. Parts cost $2 and $10 respectively. I'll just wire them to fit my Electrex modified plug, and keep one under my seat.......
The same part no also fits the CB750F2, and the ST1100 Pan- Euro by the way.Others too, methinks..
e-Bay UK is always a good source of spares..for all you new members out there....Hi Diddly and co !
ALSO HAVE A LOOK AT www.mrcycle.com, bigape.
Sorry Moderators, but it's his chosen name......he he

Thanks for the info guys. And I have gone by Big Ape for a number of years. If you ever meet me, you'll understand.

Default RE: Stator and reg/rec problems

ORIGINAL: Shadow1

As many of you know, I've been having problems for ages with stator and reg/recs. I've had I think 6 reg recs - they seem to blow up after about 6 months. I replaced the stator in December plus a new reg/rec....lasted 3 months. I found the resistance on the coils is 3.5 ohms instead of the 2.0 to 2.6 ohms as per the manual, in the stator. What would this cause, and how can I fix the problem ?
Any advice would be welcome......
Hi - I have the same problem and thanks for all your work on this.

Above you refer to "the manual". Is this your Honda Workshop manual or the Electro sport Fault find sheet?
My Honda w/shop manual states 0 to 0.1ohm between each and all yellow wires - where are we different?

I'm measuring the field coil resistances in the stator, and I think you're measuring the resistance from one end of the three stator yellow wires to the other.....? Resistance in the field coils should be 2.0 - 2.6 ohms, but there should be very little resistance in the wiring itself.[:-]
I'm using the Haynes manual to give me resistance values, but a copy of your Electro Sport electronic fault finding data sheet would be most welcome !
