possible stator problems
could someone let me know what kind of
voltage readings i should be getting off of
the stator if working properly.

Check out the shop manual at the the top of our 929 forum (sticky).
I know it's in there. I think it's broken down by RPM ranges too.

Page 16-6 of the shop manual
should be <15.5V at 5000 RPM (with High-beams on)
I measured mine while it was running at Idle, and I was getting ~14.3V
