Default stator problems

I had a stator wire come loose and it fried my stator i believe, well i replaced the stator and the bike ran fine all day, then later that night while coming to a stop sign the bike died and will not start again. the wires coming off the stator are all yellow, there are 3 wires and i had to do a lot of guessing and checking to get the bike to run and not die within a min or two so i was assuming the wires were right. I went for a ride and coming home it died again and would not start. I go to start it and the battery is testing good and fully charged, but it is as if the bike is not getting enough power from the batter to the bike to start it. the light comes on but is dim even though the battery tests out fine. I think it may be the regulator/rectifier, I was considering putting the GSXR r/r on there but was not sure if it would hook right up or if the wiring would have to be changed. please let me know what you think. thank you in advance for any advice given. would there be any other reason other then the r/r as to why the bike wouldn't be getting enough power?

thank you,
Michael

id say its the r/r just because thats known as causing stator and battery trouble. the gsxr one think you just have to sauder the wires. think a few weeks ago there was a post on it. search it.

When the stator shorted out, it probably fried you r/r. But, before you go and buy an r/r, test the battery. It sounds like you have a bad cell in the battery. Even though it shows that you've got a full charge, it fails when under a load is a classic symptom of a bad battery. You'll need to know the cold cranking amps (CCA) which is 120. Take the battery to a shop where they can place the battery under a load test. If it fails which it sounds like will most likely happen, you'll need a new battery. After you're done testing the battery, put the battery (or new battery) and start up the bike. See what the voltage is at the battery while the bike is idling. Then rev and hold the RPM's at 5K and see what the voltage going into the battery. It should be 13.5 to 15 volts. If it is still the battery voltage while the RPM's are at 5k, then it is most likely your r/r was taken out also.
