Holy crap I would throw this thing in a ditch if i hadnt have spent the money to pay off my credit card on the bike! Its starting to seem that if its not one thing its another and the problems keep on coming. I got a new starter solenoid for it, its from an F2 i think, and as soon as i plugged it in (plugged in, not even tryed to start it) I got a crapload of smoke from the front of the bike. It was coming from a small plug with two perpendicular prongs. The front just had a + +<- - sign. I want to find the source of all this crap, could it be because of the newer solenoid? I hate guessing games and this bike has got me going on a sweet goose hunt[:@]. I need one problem that needs to be fixed, not look through every connection or centimeter of wire for crap. If thats the case Ill be willing to sell it for next to nothing or part it out. I need suggestions!

You definatly have a wiring short somewhere. check from battery to solenoin then solenoid to fusebox. perhaps youve crushed something in the harness? smoking straight away is usually a short / burnt wire.

Im done with it. Bike is in West Palm Beach, Florida for $500 obo. Its becoming too involving, I dont want to waste any more time and moneyand my gf hates it. Lesson learned: dont buy non-running motorcycles if you dont know how to fix it.

If you've used the new wiring harness then the way it goes around the frame is self explainitry. Try checking all the earth teminals to see if you have a leak in the system. Have a good look at the manual that you can download and read the chapter before you take on any problems. These bikes are something else and when they are on the road they are in a class of there own. In the time that I have been on this forum I have found it to be invaluable and full of advice, as there is always something that you dont know, or something that appears to be harder than it really is. Just ask the question and an answer is never far away. Good luck!!
