Default new member new ride 91 1kF streetfighter

Hey CBR owners! I like your forum. I will be picking up a very mechanically sound 91 CBR1000F that had no usable fairing, so it was made into a streetfighter. I have looked around and have not seen any pics of bikes that have gone with that style. I don't know if you guys look down on that sort of thing or not. I enjoyed riding the bike a lot, super performance. I don't know how much difference the fairing makes in ride comfort.
Any comments to a new CBR owner would be appreciated. I have only had Shadows and Enduros up to this point and nothing above a 650, so I am planning on being cautious riding the CBR for a while until I get used to it's characteristics.
I have read somewhere around 2-300 posts/replies and I like the way this forum treats it's members/visitors. Thanks for any advice in advance and if I am covering territory here I should have found first before asking, please forgive.
Also, anyone in VA, please give a shout out and I will check for replies, I work in downtown Richmond, near VCU.

Welcome.
There are a couple of street fighters here. It's getting more popular with many bikes, especially when they get older and the price of new tupperware is more the the scoot is worth.
The CBR 1K is a sweetheart and you should have little trouble ajdusting to it. It's a bit on the heavy side, but coming from a shadow you probably won't really notice.
BTW I'm on the left coast, not anywhere near you. There is a location thread with a map (Frapper), so you can look up if a memeber has posted to it.

Thanks everyone for the warm replies. I picked up the bike this afternoon before work and just had to take a ride before loading it up -I didn't want to stop, nice day today outside 84 degrees.

You were right about not noticing the weight, seems very light, but I sure could tell when I put it in the truck! WOW! I guess it is just really well balanced. I will have to keep that in mind going into corners.

I have a request: anyone heard of someone mounting a F4 front fairing on a 1000F? The guy I bought the bike from told me he had, after I told him that was the only mod I could think that I wanted to do soon.

It not the corners you have to watch out for, it's parking {and chairs}

robe 1000F,
Welcome to the forum. I basically like naked bikes. I have 87 CBR1KF and 78 CB750F II. F II is under resoration. I am thinking turn this out a Cafe Racer. Richmond? are you talking about Richmond, VA? My wife's folks are in Yorktown. I have never taken my bike to visit them, but I go up there once month. May see you sometimes in the future!

Welcome to the forum. Nice looking ride. Not many streetfighters here but its still a CBR. Enjoy the great ride that it will offer and keep it safe. PS<nice colour scheme.

G'day and welcome, there are a couple of naked/fighters here, i've got a '87 and gorilla_biker has a later model, maybe like yours. When you get the time post some more pics, eg, front, back etc it is always good to see what others have done to their ride...
