rotation then seems to let go whats the problem and is it hard to get at the start cluch its aCBR 1000F 1988 can
anyone help us i have the book but still can`t figure out how its suposed to work

 

I once had similar problem, only 'click' sound could be heard from the starter motor,
no turning at all. I first checked all the electronics until the problem was found. It was
totally dead battery!

 

If you hear a 'click' when you push the starter button, the start relais doesn't work;
either not enough power (dead battery for example), or a broken starter relais.

If the starter runs, but the engine doesn't, the solenoid doesn't kicks in far enough
to 'grab' the engine.

Try wiring the starter directly to your battery, this eliminates the starter relais.
If the starter runs, but the engine doesn't, the slonenoid needs replacement or adjustment.

 

I've heard a few cases of the starter clutch failing, unfortunately is an engine out job to fix...

 

If the starter spins, but does not turn over the motor.....starter clutch is bad....most people say the case has to be busted......Also do not jumpo the bike with a car...I did and now my bike does not charge.... My 1990 is in the shop as we speak $800 to 1000.00 to fix .......

 

If it's not charging, I would suspect the regulator/rectifier is bad. Should only be about $80 aftermarket (Rick's Electrics). As for the starter clutch, someone mention a month ago about replacing the starter clutch without busting the case open.

 

Thanks for the infomalbojah, when it gets out of the shop for the starter clutch I will try that.
