Default Luggage for 1988 CBR1000

Hi, I already use soft sided pannier and topbox on my CBR 1000 (FJ - 1988) but I would like to fit hard-sided panniers for when I'm touring. I've been searching but can only seem to find frames and panniers for 1989 onwards.

Does anyone know of any makes that will fit my bike?

Any help, advice and pointers gratefully received.

Yeah, Ive got a set of Kappa panniers & frames on mine - you get a cbr fitting kit for these- brilliant. Ive also got a baglux tankbag, but to be honest I liked my B-square magnetic tankbag from Lidl better (£15)! Usually stick tent & mats on the rack, use 2 panniers & tank bag; fine for 2 up Europe.
Cheers John

Hello GirlieBiker,and welcome !
Collector has a set (think they're Kappas) on his bike - very nice - send him a PM - he's sure to help. I have Nonfango units on my 1990 model, so can't advise much, I'm afraid.[8D]

I have been looking for some bags for my bike as well (87), and can't find any. Kappa's website is perhaps the least helpful website I've ever been to. So, girliebiker, if you do happen to find something good, please let me know as well, if you can. If I find something, I'll pass the info on to you.

No problems, I'm going to see a bike mechanic today and if he doesn't know of any systems or how to modify them, then I might as well give up.

I'll let you know what he's got to say.

Buy a Givi wingrack and panniers then buy the fitting kit for your specific model

I love my new RJay Expandable bag, it huge (47 -> 82L), but you can feel the turbulence from it.
