Electrical Issue or something else???
#41
Thanks for the response CBR1988. My local dealer was able to get me ricks rec/reg next day free shipping. While I paid $40 more than buying electrosport, I didn't have to wait for a week to get it. I wanted to ride this weekend as its nice weather here in NY. I'm going to install it now and run the same test as the other day. Hopefully the issue was the rectifier.

Right from Rick's website:http://www.ricksmotorsportelectrics....regulators.php
"All of Rick's rectifier regulators are brand new parts and come with a one year replacement warranty. Most units are direct replacement pieces and come with the factory plug ends. This allows for an easy install - just unplug your part and plug ours in. We also know there is a need for universal rectifier regulators for certain unique machines. In this case, the rectifier regulator will come with wire leads only and you will need to hard wire it. Before replacing your rectifier regulator, be sure to read these instructions & check the integrity of all your electrical connectors.
Please do the following BEFORE installing a Rectifier/Regulator
•Check the AC output of the stator
•Check that the stator is not grounded
•Replace any burned or corroded connectors on stator & rec/reg
•Check & repair any melted wiring
•Use hi-Temp Dielectric grease on all connectors"
Just make sure you follow the install instructions and use a good hi-temp dielectrical grease, http://www.jamestowndistributors.com...ct.do?pid=8196 (Autozone) and check for burnt plug ends as if they are burnt and you just install it dry it could melt more making it a real problem to remove the unit later.
I have also added silver CPU heat sink compound to the back of the rec/reg to help with heat transfer to the chassis, and polished that area of the frame removing the paint and covering it completely with a fine layer of the cpu compound http://www.ebay.com/itm/10g-Silver-T...item1c23615e2e, plus I used no-ox (http://sanchem.com/ox.html) grease on all my ground points.
