Update:
The replacement bulbs are in fact a bit smaller and dont fit in the socket properly. You were right Shadow, they are different. I ended up taking the after-market bulbs out and putting back my original bulbs. Guess I'll keep looking around or try that adapter fix. Anyone have any pictures of the adaptor so I have some mental picture of what to do?

They shouldn't be smaller, just a different tab configuration. The adaptors come from Canada and cost $10 US per pair.Picture in my original post I think
