No, I'd kinda like to have the bits in hand before I break out the big guns in case it really ***** it by taking it apart. I have seen your instructional How to, very informative but I suspect seeing it's rivetted together if I go to the local Honda guy and ask for internal parts I'll be greeted with a blank stare and a comment along the lines of " They're a one piece item, you have to buy the whole thing"

It would seem that way and I can't find anything on the net regarding an 87

No worries Graham. It's not the first time and I'm sure it won't be the last. Rarely do conversations stay on track, especially round here.

If it helps, and if you really can't get your 87 tap apart you could always buy one for a 90, which definitely does come apart. I'm sure you'll find one somewhere floating around on fleabay.
I can't believe they don't. The repair kits seem to cover your model.
