Question Rear Shock ??

Are they rebuild-able at all ?

Had a Guy that said he could do it but now ...... well lets just say he
has plenty of time to do other things like lifting weights etc.

Second question :

Anyone know of anybody adapting a rear shock from another bike
to the Hurricane ?? if so info please .

I know all about the big $$$ options for Hagon's , Penske's , ohlins etc.
not going that route ....too expensive

You could try contacting JAWS (blackbird specialist) - he can rebuild the blackbird unit so he might be able to do the 1000F shock too.

Default shock

I blew my rear shock earlier this year.
Contacted a specialist rebuilder in London who described what to look for if they are rebuildable.
Sadly from what he told me the Later F model rear shock is a sealed unit and not rebuildable.
Like you I was appalled at the price of an alternative replacement and didnt like the adjustment of the Hagon's.
Ended up buying a S/H unit off ebay.
Having said that it works fine and I have no complaints.
If you do find someone who can rebuild or another shock that will do please let me know.
Regards, Blue.

Update :

John from JAWS got right back to me Deano and yeah they do rebuild ! The 1000F

he wanted to know my year (this case the 1990) so sent that back ...but UK time
now ...won't hear until tomorrow for a cost

So Blue yeah man JAWS in Thetford UK do it .

They did say though the a common issue is the chrome on the damper
rod has worn out on these by now.

Might skype call him tomorrow from my mobil phone and see what the deal is !

Will report back on costs etc.

Great lead again Dean ..... thanks man

Glad to help out.

The JAWS website is an aladdins cave for the blackbird owner.

Have always had good service from him with everything I have bought.

I looked into Race Tech several years ago, and their web site said that the rear shock for my 1990 was not rebuildable (Third line under rear shock) http://old.racetech.com/evalving/eng...ngname=english
But they have a ton of stuff for the front fork.

Well John from JAWs just confirmed .......no problemo

Now to find out the details $$ and from here shipping might just negate the benefits.

& of course not the kind of item that can be put in a suitcase anymore either

Thanks Sprock,

Thetford is less than a hour away for me and I still have my old original unit so I think I will pay them a visit soon.
