This may be a stupid question, I know you mentioned it sticking out an inch, but how much did you cut out? Is that an inch or a little bit more?

Looks good Crash. I can 99.9% guarantee you that taking off that little, will effect performance one bit.

Very smallwrite up on 600rr.net I posted:
To make the cut, Sawzall (18+ teeth per inch) metal blade.If you look at the exhaust(pre-cut) right behind the rear brake reservoir the mid-pipe is straight for about 6+ or so inches. Cut it there. (I cut out 1" but could have gone 1.5") You want to cut it on the straight to keep your pipe's angle and it can hide the weld behind the reservoir. Not to mention you don't have to worry about relocating the mounting springs for the slip-on.

Use a sharpie and mark 2 reference lines to match up with after the cut is made(this way it keeps the pipe looking straight and not cockeyed. (picture 4)

What to look out for: After welding you will need to spray the weld with high temp paint to prevent rust. Heat will not be a factor for me because i've left enough space for the exhaust to get by the tail section.

Any exhaust shop should be able to do this for $25 buck or below. If they can't go somewhere else. Tell them to watch the power level because it doesn't take much to burn through the pipe (Trial and Error ).

If anyone needs pictures of where to cut or what it looks like from the side just let me know.

^Thanks man. We got all the tools I need at my shop back home, so whenever I get the time and money I may be doing that this winter.

I have a 2005 CBR1000RR can i do the same project?
I was anaware the pipe stuck out that far on the back end.

Pick would be great if its the same, and ill need to do it.

you just made that exhaust look so much better. i wanted this exhaust so bad but i cant stand how it sticks out. nice job crank
