Hey dude, dont pay attention to those saying your a dead man. I also personally think that nos is a bad idea though. Rev that bike out cause like one already said, unless that cars pulling at least 700-800 RWHP, your gonna win. Maybe try taking a motorcycle safety course to help you with the skills that you might be a little sketchy on. Oh and who do all you guys think you are talking crap to this guy, Im not tryin to start fights but it was just a question. A lot of us know NOS is the wrong way to go but give him a break.

 

what do your friends drive? are the roads you guys drive just straight or twisty?

I've only been riding since june, and have a 06 600RR also. After a bit I considered the same question as you posed on this blog. The bike gets up to 140-150 no problem, but after that you gotta have space to get over 160, so I wondered if nitrous might be a cheap way to get that extra kick in the pants to reach top speed. Most of my riding over the summer was on the freeway, I needed to commute before I moved in september. While riding to and from work and just around in general, there would of course be a few cars that would try to race, but all of them were pretty much just a joke, I'd be in 6th gear, upright, just matching thier speed and messing with them while they are goin all out. These are basically ricers and stuff, the cars i remember in particular were a ford focus, a lincoln ls or somthing, and some bmers or audis. There was one time in particular though i was coming home from work, about half way home and this porsche carrera s just flys by. I don't know what it was or why, but the next thing i knew i was chasing this guy down the freeway. (this has been the only car that ever even felt like competition) anyway, we were going around 130-40 most of the time, and as his car could handle rediculously well, he was darting through traffic in ways that I wouldn't even attempt, and I'm on a bike! This was when I learned that I really didn't know how to ride well at all, and needed to really start working on handling. So I stayed behind this guy, taking the safe openings and not trying anything risky or pulling any close passes. The traffic thickened through this one section we had to slow down to about 90, but since i knew the freeway i decided to wait and make my move when it opened up to four lanes. once it did, i went for it and the porsche did too, and i made my way over to the left lane. the freeway makes a long curve left, i was in the left lane, and the porsche was one lane over to the right, we were side by side about 140 and as i leaned over in the turn i was hanging off the bike farther than i had up to that point and passed him on the inside. once the turn straightened out i got on it all the way, hit the rev limiter in 5th, (it goes 159) clicked up once more and didn't look down or back and just stayed on it. about a mile before my exit i let off, checked my mirrors, and didn't even see the porsche. As i was getting off on my exit, the porsche flew by.

my bike at this time was completely stock, other than a rear fender eliminator.



so, things I have learned during that experience

even though the porsche and I entered the turn at the same time, I was faster at the exit and he wasn't able to catch up

you might be surprised at your acceleration by just downshifting, if you are going 80, click down to third gear, anything less than 50 just shift all the way down to first, the bike will go about 72 in that gear.

crouch as low as you can, with your entire helmet behind the windscreen. I used to think that the top speed of my bike was 160, but I've gotten it to 170 just by crouching lower.

so yeah i know that probably everyone on this forum is going to call me a f*ckin ******* for driving to fast and stuff - Just want to say that freeway driving is the most predictable, a town or city is scarier to me because of unexpected stuff coming into your path. I'm not someone that will flip you off or get road rage at all, cut you off or force the right of way, I just wait for an opening to pass and enjoy the rest of my ride. also, since every other culture boasts their pride in some way, I'll just add that I'm german, have driven on the autobahn, and wish we had that concept in the states. also I did take the BRC before buying my bike, and have full protective gear. i hate how people feel that only because you are going fast doesn'

 

the way forums are is uncontrollable if people are going to say" i hope you die" or "go kill yourself" "squids" "ricers" there is nothing you can do about it but ignore it. but on topic now. i have a cbr f3 not a RR but i will have one next spring. right now i think its fast i can get to 150mph relatively quick. As far as my modifications i have about every performance piece on my F3 to make it faster as well as 520 conv/sprockets and from 7.5k to 12k rpm this thing pulls hard and right now i feel like i need a faster bike because other bikes are faster in the straights, and i can't even remember when i lost to any car on my F3. but when i ride my cousin 2006 R6 and shifted at 15k in 1st to 2nd to 3rd i felt like i was fighting to stay onto the bike. One thing i'm not used to is that sometimes when i ride at WOT around 10-15k rpm i get blurriness during accel and bad depth perception during decel. i think what contributes to this is adrenaline from exhaust sound and the fact i'm not used to his bike because i dont have this problem with my F3.

So the f3 is too slow for me but the 06 R6 is too fast(and i assume the 600RR to be the same). So what i should probably do is buy a 600RR and get used to it. I personally know that i will never be able to fully use the RR to its potential. So I dont see how your losing to any cars on the RR and how you are using it to its full potential. what i would honestly do first is learn how to launch and shift fast perhaps an air shifter then if you think its still slow get: K&N filter, Power Comm III, sprockets -1 front 1+ rear and for weight reduction: Full Ti exhaust (loud race baffle for the nice adrenaline effect) marchesini magnesium rims, ride on a half tank of gas and lose some weight on that body. I bet you'll be 99.9% satisfied afterwards because everything i just listed is what i'm going to do to my RR when i get it i wanna learn to ride it with all the mods that way i dont have to readjust to it everytime i mod it. also there is no way i will get tired of it because 170mph is fast enough. So when i get my 600RR i'm going to keep it til i crash or it rust to death if ever because i keep my current F3 in a heated garage and no rust on it.

 

just my 2cents but I think this post has gone a lil further than "blaster" wanted to go lol....but still and all a good contrast of info being shared. ME I have been riding my 05 RR for about 2mths now, and it is my first bike, I really enjoy the ride and have not really tried "smoking" anyone "yet". But the only reason a newbs like myself got a 600 was because my best friend who has been riding for years dam near bitch smacked me when I told him I was about to buy an 05 BUSA............ So yes I am glad he did it because my ignorance might just have costed me somthing I did not want to buy. And yes I did see the biker boyz movie and was thrilled by the storyline. The cinema almost got me because of the looks of the bike and seeing what it could do but not really knowing what it could do. I am not the only one with this perception and some of my fellow first riders dont have the type of friend that I have But ALL GOOD INFO I AM READING,THANKS FOR SHARING YALL!!!!!!!!

 

just want to clear some things up here, a 10sec car does not need 700 or 900hp (atleast not at the wheels) i had a high 10/ low 11 sec truck that had around 600rwhp, and thats a truck weighing in at 4k lbs that i could have driven on the street. your RR will undoubtly beat 99% of the cars out there riden right. however, cars are getting faster a lot easier

No matter the car... I personally say a BRAND NEW VET. 06 take it hard in the brown eye from a 600RR 05... so either they have $70.000 invested in there little civics or you just cant ride... theres a saying. " Ride Fast or come Last" but by the ways your talking about N.o.S spray your gunna be "Ryding fast but sliding last" i smell road rash on this puppy... Granted I havent been ryding long and I only own a 93 CBR600... but even I can leave cars in my dust... I'v yet too find a car that can even remotly keep up... & I know your bikes alittle faster then mine friend.... I have nothing else too say...

personally, i say you save the money you would spend on either of the two options and spend it on gas. Go ride the hell out of your new bike and get more experience on it. you will get "faster" once you get more acquinted withyour bike (powerband, clutch speed, throttle response, etc). then, when you feel as though it is too slow, you can look into upgrades, but even then an exhaust and a power commander is more than enough to optimize your bike. but definitely go get some more time on the bike. enjoy...

 

ok well 10 sec bike or not that really doesn't matter when we race from 60 140+ which my bike seems to lack power up top so **** your lame *** saying i can't ride k thnx and these cars run 10 and under so shoot your self in the face or the foot i dont care and for all the people that had nice things to say thnx
