I am dealing with Vortex right now.....premature hooking on the rear sprocket...I ordered a new oneand the guy from vortex wants my old one to check it out...he may repalce it....only got like 7,000. but then again.....520 on a liter bike thats not exactly normal....if he replaces it cool..if not no worries.... the chain still looks fine...am going to look at front sprocket when I change the rear.....but with the chain showing no wear I doubt the steel spocket is worn to any degree other than normal

I don't see a need for 520 on street bikes.

if this becomes an issue its either back to a 530....OR.....seeing if I can program my water jet cutter to zip one out of Titainium and clean up the teeth on a mill. 10% lighter then Alum...and stronger than steel. draw back.....a 12x12 sheet of 1/4 " titainium is 325.00

I have done the same conversion on other bikes and have friends with stacks that have done the conversion and thay lose a significant amount of top end.

It depends on how you ride. We usually get out on the expressway and open our bikes up on occasion. I personally would not change my sprockets. The guys who have changed them gets left behind.

However, I have a friend with a ZX10 who has changed the sprockets. He may get left behind when the bikes are allowed to breathe, his 10 will power up easily in 3rd gear with the gearing change.
