switching mind frame
all I have ever owned are nice pretty bikes. I just sold my 929 a month ago, had to pay some unexpected bills. I am now looking at getting a new bike, but am interested in getting one I can beat up and learn how to stunt on. I have heard a lot of great things about the f4i and think i should probably be looking at them but something keeps telling me to stick with the 929. It had great power and never felt heavy to me. Should I stay with the 929 cause I am familiar with it, owned it for 2 1/2 years, or should I start out with something smaller.Will i be disappointed with less power? Is more power REALLY all that necessary? I have been riding for 6 years now, but mostly in canyons and commuting. I have always wanted to stunt but feared even the smallest scratches n my other bikes.

If you did'nt stunt your 929 in the time you owned it you probably won't stunt another bike. I've driven an tryed other bikes beside my 900 and I like the torgue of my 900 but the 600rr stunts just as easy and has the power to spare. I also like the yamaha r6 because of how easy it lifts and indos are very smooth. If you take your time learning and have alot of patients you can learn on any bike with minimal damage to the bike. I was afraid of tearing up my bike as well so I removed all the fairing to learn and got some frame sliders in case of a fall. I still have alot to learn but have come a long ways. Johnny

I started with a suzuki katana and boy was that a heavy bike. When I bought my 900 it made things much easier and the torque is great but I wish I would of started with a 600 because of the weight on the 600 being about 370 pounds. The 929 is a powerfull bike and is about 400 pounds. If you are a heavy guy its perfect, but if you are average 180 like me I think you will find it easier to stunt a 600. Like everybody says, they are more forgiving on power and weight. Johnny

if you're just starting off there's no way you need that much power. F4I' s are the best beginners stunt bike out there....thats the reason so many ppl have them. Their BP is a lot farther forward and is more comfortable when doing wheelies. You won't be dissapointed at all with it!! i had a 929 and i could power it up in 4th gear....way too much power and you'll end up looping your ****.
I could wheelie my 929 but never did much more than a simple power wheelie down the street. I never clutched it cause it powered up so easy. I would have to learn how to clutch it. what kind of sprockets would I have to put on an f4i? my 929 was -1/+2. My fear is that i buy an f4i then be disappointed cause it has less power. I am sorry if i sound "stupid" but want to make the right decision.
I'd guess about 80% of true stunters (parking lot slow stuff) ride the F4i. Very easy to balance and control. The throttle is super forgiving. I'd say 10% of the riders use the 636... It's actually easier to control then the F4i, but less forgiving in crashes, aka less durable.
I'm rebuilding my 929 as a street fighter / stunt bike.
From my experience its obviously an easy bike to clutch up in numerous gears, but very very touchy on the throttle to control. So if you want to stunt a 929, you have to get your brake control on point quickly, where as the F4i seems to engine brake a bit better, and you can blip the throttle more to bring it back to the balance point.
Compared to an F4i tho, my 929 is tank. However, talking to people who stunt 929's, they love em just as much as the 600's...
Only bother about the 929 is finding used parts is harder, and quiet a bit more costly than the F4i.

From my experience its obviously an easy bike to clutch up in numerous gears, but very very touchy on the throttle to control. So if you want to stunt a 929, you have to get your brake control on point quickly, where as the F4i seems to engine brake a bit better, and you can blip the throttle more to bring it back to the balance point.
Compared to an F4i tho, my 929 is tank. However, talking to people who stunt 929's, they love em just as much as the 600's...
