When I tried the standup wheelies I was talking about staggered. Just normal standing up is really strange to me... though I will try some of those as well.
I tried getting it up in second some more tonight on my way home from work. I actually got it come up about a foot or so, which is more than before.... baby steps

OK here is my 2 cents from riding 15+years..
Dont do 1st gear stand ups! Dont try to learn freeway stand ups until your are great at everything else! If you are smart dont do them at all! To many kids are getting killed and hurt bad. I ride and I dont need or want my privilege to ride revoked because too many wanna be's are trying to wheelie! I am not calling any of you wanna be's only the squids that try to do a stunt the 1st day they ride! Why on earth would you want to do a 60mph+ wheelie? That 15 year old girl that thought it was kool is not going to pay your funeral expenses. know what your doing before you do something stupid! Sometimes stunts seem kool to people that aren't very kool! Lets be honest, no real professional person gives a rats *** about stunts, my wife makes 6 figures a year and could care less if could wheelie or not, she rides also but doesnt stunt because it is a bad idea! Dont get killed showing off for some girl that works for 8 bucks an hour..Its not worth your life or your football career haha! I like wheelies so I dont wanna be the party pooper..I just think there is a time and place, and the freeway is not it. Maybe if I was 18 again I would see it a different way but I am not and I wouldnt risk losing my life or my licence just because I wanted to look kool.

2nd clutch them up! Clutching is way less harsh on your bike! Power wheelies eat your tranny up, you will be replacing your tranny every 8k miles doing power wheelies all day. Clutching a wheelie will eat your clutch, who cares clutch kits are a lot cheaper then a tranny. Dont bop or yank the handle bars! If you are you dont know what your doing! Let the bike do all the work! Add a bigger rear sprocket instead of a -1 front sprocket of your having a problem getting it up! Go up 3 in the rear and you will have a torquey wheelie machine. A wheelie done right will not harm your bike or you!
Just be safe and use your head! Cover your rear brake.. I have seen too many guys grab the front break when the front tire is off the ground. They panicked and got hurt. Dont be scared about using the clutch, All these guys that flip clutching them up are riding liter bikes! Our 600's wont flip unless you way over rev or stand up and yank the bars!

We as a whole need to start policing our own to restore our good name! Before the day comes when we cant ride anymore! Wow I think someone forgot their meds today LOL j/k. IMHO you don't know alot of the people on here that you are "bashing," no offense, just take it easy. I'm sure that most of the guys on here aren't riding down the freeway, I've been following along this whole thread and I don't remember seeing anyone say anything about freeway wheelies. Me personally I take it to the side roads with little to no traffic and if there is a car coming I just wait. I agree what your saying about pulling on the bars, I have heard of people having the clipon turn on the fork, but I have also heard of people breaking off their pegs doing standups. All I can say is that you have to know your limits, and I too hate hearing how someone just got a bike and whats to know how to wheelie. One more thing, and I'm not trying to be a dick or anything, why is a power wheelie harder on your tranny than clutching? I'm not saying that you are wrong, but all of my experience working on bikes and cars points the other way. When you clutch it up there is a harsh jolt to everything, gears, clutch, sprockets, chain, cush drives, tire, suspension. Please explain. Also what kind of a difference would a +3 rear make over a -1 front? I need to buy a new chain and sprocket kit pretty soon, so any info is appreciated.

Ok all the stunters use bigger rear sprockets because it makes more torque then changing the front sprocket. Changing the front -1 doesn't do anything but lower the rpms at higher speeds. A -1 doesn't make that much difference, you could just apply more throttle and get the same results. I would say go 2 up in the rear and -1 in the front for max benefit without losing all your top end and gas mileage. Clutching it does do less damage to the tranny. When you power it up the bike has to work extremely hard to get it up, it sounds easier but it isn't. The sudden change in torque kills you tranny while clutching you can control to soften the whole process.
Go to uponone.com and look under how to's and click the wheelies (here is a link http://www.uponone.com/howtos.php) It will explain the whole thing I am saying in a better way! Why do you think all the top stunters clutch them? you can do it at slower speeds and you can control them much better. using the power band at higher rpms means you are going much faster, if something goes wrong your chit out of luck!
And to be crystal clear I wasn't referring to any people in this forum, I have posted many times and helped a lot of people out! Although seeing your responses you are the very people that real sport bikers hate. You are squids that deserve to crash! You are the riders that make us all look bad, so do us a favor sell your bike so all our insurance premiums will lower. I doubt any of you ride the twisties, you only ride from 1 red light to another.. A monkey could do that! And mister white trash Camaro guy.. your a fool! How do you ride with a mullet? This thread was very considerate in the beginning. Now it seems like some of you are being childish and bashing a guy (that none of us probably know in person) for his OPINION. Last time I checked we are free to have one of those EVEN IF it is different from our own. So to everyone hating on this guy for his opinion why don't you guys grow up and stop bashing him for his thoughts. Like many of the rest of us he is just trying to show opinions from another side.
