2nd gear stand ups

let a little air out of your rear tire( i am usually at 30-35, but what ever you like) and then slow down and try it. get going about 25-30mph. keep that steady speed and then pop it. dont accelerate and try it. u will be able to ride alot longer and pop it up quicker. be carefull though it come up alot faster....

most of the guys i ride with run 18-22 psi for faster wheelies...i normally run 20-22....

Yeah in most of those I'm going about 20-23 or so when I pop it up. I'm just getting the feel for it with the clutch as I was used to doing it with the throttle on my old 750. Watching those makes me realize it always feels higher than it really is! I imagine I have brought it close to BP a couple times in the past but got really scared and dropped it down kinda harshly.... I just need some *****! haha.

Ok I did my first few wheelies the other day. I am going about 30-38 in 2nd sitting down. pull in the clutch rev to about 8-10k rpms and just pop the clutch out real fast, the fronts coming up but doesnt seem high at all and its not up for very long. Also I feel like im hurting my bike :-( !! LOL.

HEy spike, If i can get to where your at right now in those videos I'd be pretty satisfied. How are you doing those? What gear/speed/ rpm are you reving to and letting the clutch out??

IS there a difference between SLIPPING the clutch and POPPING the clutch? Im just poppin it out,,,,, should I be slowly letting it out??

If you shoot up too fast for your liking give it a lil less gas and if your not getting high enough give it a lil more and stay in the throttle till you get high then ease off or ride your rear brake a lil bit. When people say they rev to a certain rpm i just laugh its not like you keep it at a certain rpm then drop the clutch. I go from cruising thottle pull the clutch in a lil bit twist the throttle another half turn and drop the clutch thats for a 2nd gear wheelie. I dont judge a launch from my rpms i just dont it all real fast i dont give it time to hit rev limiter or anything. Also dump the clutch dont slip it that wont get you anywhere and trust me after a **** load of launches my clutch still grips like it was brand new power wheelies are what kills your tranny

From what I've read you're really not hurting the bike any.

I'm going about 20 in first and pulling in the clutch, reving real fast and popping the clutch out pretty quick. Don't just let it SNAP out but let it out real fast. It's one smooth motion and it brings the front wheel up well (or spins the back tire if you've got some water / dirt on it haha). Just keep practicing you'll get it. I've only been messing with this for a couple weeks so, much to learn. I have only gotten it up once in second (as in the front came up more than 6"). Keep at it!

Why are power wheelies so much harder on the tranny? I can't wrap my mind around it for some reason. I do clutch up my sitdown wheelies, but when I do my stand ups all I do is blip the throttle and it comes straight up, no chasing or anything. I have delt with building and modifying cars, and from my background its like saying that a burn out with a car from dumping the clutch is less hard on your parts than taking off and mashing the gas and getting the tires turning, you know what I mean? Think of it like this, you are at a stoplight getting ready for a hard launch (with your car). You push in the clutch and rev it to 3500rpms the light turns green and you dump the clutch and tear off. You are putting a massive strain on all of your drivetrain parts from that sudden jolt, compared to sitting at the light waiting for the light to turn with your car idling, the light turns green and you take off normal, but once the clutch is all the way out you mash the gas. This one everything is already turning so its not so much of a strain. I don't know LOL I just got done work and am rambling about something that really doesn't matter LOL

Back on topic, I clutch the hell out of my 2nd gear wheelies. I'll be rollin between 45-60 in 2nd pull the clutch in rev it up and let out the clutch, took me a while to get the feel for it, but don't be afarid to give it some rpms. I noticed that when I was starting them when I'd let the clutch out I'd back off the throttle. Wait until the front tire is up and then either catch it with the rear brake or back off the throttle to balance it out. All I know is when I'm sitting down I can't see sh*t if I try to look straight ahead, I have to stick my head to either side to see where I'm going.

Another quick question, anyone trying spreader wheelies yet? I want to learn how to do it without bashing my tank in. If you are doing them let me know what your doing. I'm getting a new rear tire in the next few days so I'll be tearing it up again and I want to learn the spreader wheelie, or a highchair, but I think I'll wait a little while for that LOL

Spike, yours look pretty good to me for only doing them for a few weeks, I've done it maybe a few days worth and when the front came up it couldnt have been 6" or more i know they were weak but im still getting used to it! LOL I just feel like Im hurting my baby!! :-( LOL Well Im off to go practice some more I'll post again when I get back!! Wish me luck!!

Hey check the link, me and twistatech finally god a short vid put together. Its a few weeks old, so we have gotten alot better since then, this video was shot only about a week after we figured out how to do standups.
