Was riding yesterday and it was pretty gusty. Only thing I need are ear plugs and to learn to look at my tach (or get a different pipe). I couldn't hear the engine over the wind and I shift by ear
Shorten your exhaust. It makes it a bit louder and deeper. That should solve your problem

Not much you can do except stay in the middle of your lane so that when a gust hits you (either direction), you have plenty of time to react and stay in your lane.

I once rode past a long row of houses with 40mph gusts perpendicular to the road. Just as quickly as I could correct for the wind, bam!, I was in dead air space again due to the next house blocking the wind and had to correct back. I must have looked like I was warming up my tires to anyone following ...lol.

Besides the stuff mentioned here, I sometimes kick it down a gear. I feel it gives me more traction and control.

yea i just tuck and ride in the middle of the lane i dont slow down tho ive found that at slow speeds on the highway i seem to get pushed harder from the wind then when im doin 5pmh+ the speed limit i try to keep my head low cause especially with a helmet the wind can really rattle your head and its a natural body reaction for your arms and hands to follow your head like in a car if your looking straight left and not in front of you you'll tend to drift left same goes for looking right, so try and break that habit on the bike be in control of what your doin and keep low and your head as stable as possible

Dealing with Santa Ana winds here(30+mph with gust up to 80+) in SoCal on a regular basis, I ride center in the lane, slow down a bit and tuck if needed. May also ride a little more on the side up wind.
I always get asked by coworkers, "how do you ride in the wind?" to which I reply, it is always windy on a motorcycle. LOL

damn! Bob Seger's Against the Wind just played.

tuck down, relax, center lane and avoid soccer moms and almost forgot to mention big pick up trucks.
