You gotta love the spaghetti on the CBX.

There's just something about a motorcycle with 6 cylinders..... The things I would do for a cbx...

You know that is a weird thing, I'm all about quirky engines, I got an inline triple, my next bike will probly be a V4, the one after that a V2, hell if they'd make more wankel engined bikes I could consider getting myself one just to have it. The CBX does nothing for me, don't really know why. Seems like something someone cobbled together in their shed, it's too damn wide for that bike... I mean it's a clean well made specimen... but meh... not for me...

Btw interesting gauge. Massive frame, tiny face. Exactly what I do NOT want...

Haha, that's exactly what I like about it! Its not practical, doesn't appear to be well thought out, its raw, and its a hot rod.

Similar to a kawi gauge, isn't it?

Its like 2 of your triples bolted together. Think of that. Have you ever seen one coming at you from the other lane? No question what is is when you see it. You are correct however, not very practical, like a corvette. I need a corvette like I need another hole in my head. Its not the need, its the want.

The CBX is very cool sounding.

You`d be surprised if I`d post a vid of how similar a sound you can make with half the cylinders... maybe a bit lacking in redline revs but even angrier on WOT. and I sincerely doubt it`ll make 292hp:s either

...yea yea I get your point, I just don`t find the bikes of that era in general particularily attractive. And a straight six engine somehow makes a straight correlation in my head to BMW:s which I hate. Well not the cars but the a$$hat teens on their 300 series drifter wannabes... and the a$$hats on their 500 series that hog the motorways and apparently didn`t tick the extras box on turning indicators...

I`ve always liked to tread my way off the beaten path. Not far enough to not be seen but still enough to make my own trail. As I`ve said before, not to have something anyone else doesn`t, but rather to not have something everyone else does. The truth lies somewhere in between...

I had a '79 CB750F that made 75HP. They said at the time it was the first production vehicle that produced 100HP per 1000c.c. (calculated) The CBX fell short with 1147c.c. and 105HP. Both bikes had shim and bucket valve adjustments. The 16 valves on the 750 was a task to adjust, the 24 valves on the CBX would have been a big undertaking, let along syncing the 6 carbs. At 600 lbs (272 kg) it was a big bike. Even with its big tank, when I sat on them, I could clearly see the engine on both sides. Back in 1979 when kick starters are just starting to go away, Honda came out with this mass-produced inline masterpiece. The tail section made it look fast even when it wasn't moving. For some of us older guys that remember our first glance at the CBX, we can only remark that sometimes, bigger is better. LOL
