They are very close to what is referred here to as " posties bikes"
Our delivery of mail to houses in urban areas is predominantly done by individuals riding these little red throw around bikes. They come screaming up the front lawns of the houses and big cases of mail all over them and a bag in the front.
Our local guy also is an avid motorbike rider so after spending 8 hours a day 5 days a week on his little red posty bike tearing up people's front lawns, he gets on his road bike and goes for depression reversing rides on something that can actually beat the dogs that chase him all over the neighbourhood.
There was an article on a postman not long ago on television and at times through the day he would take his mandatory break still sitting atop of his little red posty bike, parked at a kerb, with a makeshift easlel and crayons creating works of art some 8 inches by 4 inches. Small but that's so he could carry everything on his posty bike throughout the day.
These little posty bikes are actually starting to attract a lot of attention with collectability especially for the old retired bikes. I guess each to their own. I read somewhere how lovely it was tracing your hands over the beautifully crafted tail of a hurricane but can't imagine doing the same movements over a posty bike

Honda SuperCub, (Posties bike, Passport, C50/70/90/100, CT90/110) have been the single most produced motor vehicle in the world, and there are good reasons. From 1958 to current, over 87 million units produced as of 2014.
The engine configuration is most reliable to operate, easy to maintain and repair, often roadside in conditions less the ideal.
The utilitarian value of the SuperCub is undeniable. If there is a vehicle that I would keep to ride for the rest of my life, the SuperCub would be the one.
If I can find the time, I would take my C90, ride out to Prudhoe Bay, AK and back.

Hi "A"
That's amazing information mate but I guess when we see them running around our own local streets we give little thought to the international marketing and sales of these bikes.
There has been a few of late come on the market here and still though getting on and in need of a good clean up still asking around the $1500. I had never even thought of the normal following of these and rather imagined it would of been retired posties chasing a bit of their employment history and having one in the shed to look at.
It certainly would be novel to see a huge gathering of these with a pack on riding across the country together. Stranger things have been done

Here is a link Ride Report of a couple that rode around the world on a pair of modern Honda SuperCub clones.. still considered to be luxury touring to me.
Here is a real ride report: Honda C70 coast to coast
