Thanks,

I posted Plastifix vids because there don't seem to be any for Plastech. I couldn't find Plastfix on eBay (I'm not in the US) and many people on forums said that PLASTECH is pretty much the same thing, just cheaper. I ordered two sets (I actually ordered 2 more just in case just now).

The Plastifix comes with 30 grams of powder and 50 ml of liquid vs the 20 grams of powder and 30 ml of liquid in the eBay PLASTECH kit. However. Buying two PLASTECH kits plus shipping was still cheaper than one Plastifix kit (for me that is, the seller I used is UK based).

I do feel that (although I haven't used it) the Plastifix applicator is better. The PLASTECH kit comes with three pipets but don't have a needle like the Plastifix kit you see in the video. I'm going to get a syringe so I can applicate the PLASTECH like in the video. Now I basically have to plop some power where I need it and apply some drops of liquid. The syringe approach seems more precise and liquifies the power better. If I can't find a syringe I'll just tape a sewing needle to the end of the pipet.

The 'molding' bar in the PLASTECH kit looks like nothing more than a stick of hot glue. I couldn't get it as flexible as I would have liked it to be (soaking in hot water) to really make more difficult molds but I'll just put it in a hot glue gun and make my mold that way. The good thing about it is that it's easy to get more 'moulding bars' (i.e. glue sticks) if I need to make a bigger mold.

Long story short; Yes, it is as easy at they show in the video!

I'm going to work on it more on Tuesday and Friday so I'll try to make a short video and post it here.

It feels solid. Depending on how/where you use it, it might be stronger than the original material. In this case I'm confident enough that it's strong enough to do it's job (one of three mounting tabs for the side to upper fairing). My next jobs are filling in quite a bit of missing plastic on the upper cowl and repairing/making two headlight housing tabs (pictures to come).

They also say that if you can use some fibreglass drywall tape (or regular fibreglass sheets) to make the repair stronger. I did this on a few bigger cracks and will also use it to back up the large repairs on the upper cowl (pics also to follow shortly).

Nice rebuild! I hoping to start the reconditioning of my 1996 CBR600 F3 soon, your pics and progress are very motivating.

Sorry for not updating in ages. I'm still not 100% done (with the plastics) but I will post some more recent pics this weekend.
