Racing 2011
Yeah, not sure whats up with the ties, wasn't a good showing for Pirelle to have some tires blow. It looks like Checa is the man to beat in WSBK... I know Ducati has a good history there in Phillips Island. Hope Rea will do better to get honda in the Running. WSS was specatcular. I wish Honda could have pulled it out, but I think both WSBK & WSS will be down to the wire to decide who's Champ.
i love how everyone has been panicing over the whole 'no factory ducati team', but it sounds like checa is on a factory ducati ... or at least as much of a factory bike as haga and fabrizio were on last year (considering they were technically a privateer team). but i wouldnt say that he's the man to beat this year.... i think you have to look at the difference in max at the first race, he finished 2nd - where as the best he could muster last year was 5th or 6th. not to mention, i think laverty will do better as we go further into the season (i love how he couldnt understand how cal and james rode last years bike! haha).
granted, i dont want to take anything away from carlos - he did walk away with that whole weekend in ease

I'm not saying Carlos will run away with the title, but I do see him in the chase, say top 5. Last year I went to Miller (SLC, Utah) & he was leading both races & his bike broke on him each time. He rode better than Haga & Fabrizio last year. Ducati will do well. I hope Honda & Rea will end the season as the Champs. But it seems Honda has cut back so much in supporting road racings especially for liter bikes. WSBK only has 1 team, AMA has ZERO!!! I guess they have the monopoly in MOTO2 & as few teams in WSS. Still hope the return to AMA.
Anyone catch AMA?
I missed some of the early action apparently. But I did see the finishes. I thought superbike was good. A little early to tell whats going to happen. But it doesn't look like Hayes will be running away with anything. Of course, that track is not the typical track, and Hayes was really strong until the long runs. Nice to see Roger Hayden have a good finish in Race 1. Hopefully he will be a contender this year.
Supersport was decent too. But man, they are so bunched up, you never know who is going to win. At any point, any of the top 7 could pass for the win. Zemke looked great, but lost a bunch of places on the last lap, but still finised 3rd. So a good showing for him. It makes for exciting racing, but it also comes down to luck just as much as skill with how close they all are.
However, the last lap crash really sucked. I really like Herin, and accidents do happen. But holy crap would I be pissed if that happened to me. He has always been one to push it. But it seemed last year, he was starting to get a little careless with other riders and had a few moments instead of his own crashing. But to start off the year like this is not a good sign. If he's this aggressive on the first race of the year, I can only imagine how aggressive he will be when the points are tight.
MotoGP in less than a week. I can't wait. I look for Spies to be knocking on the championship all year. His first year jitters are gone, he's on a factory bike, and he only gets faster as the race goes on. If he's within the top 8 on qualifying, I'd put him on the podium for sure for the first race.
I really hope Rossi can get the Ducati to compete. He has a huge undertaking on his hands. I think any other year, he would be right at the top. But with the field so stacked, its going to be a real challenge for him. I would really like to see Hayden win a race or two, or least get on the podium.
Hopefully Stoner can keep the bike up. The first few races are going to determine his season. not if wins or not, but just as long as he doesn't crash. I'd like to see him just finish in the top 5 a few races to get rid of the "win or crash" stigma. If he can do that, I'm sure his confidance will be great and he will be extremely hard to beat again. He's one of the fastest riders out there, and is pretty much unbeatable by other riders. He only gets beat by himself.
It will be interested to see how Lorenzo develops the bike without Rossi on his team. I still feel Rossi was a huge part in Lorenzo's bike.

Yeah, so far I have enjoyed WSB, AMA & really look forward to MotoGP. I think Honda will be the bike to beat, I would like to see Hayden & Spies win a few races. I don't see the Duc riders being in the top 3... Sorry for Rossi & Hayden, but it is what it is...
i am a honda fan through and through and have only ever and will ever owned hondas but with that said i vote for spies or haygen to win it. i dont think hayden will be in the top 3 a few times but spies in my opinion will be the man to beat. he just seems to be a little more quick to adjust to circumstances than any one else and being on a factory bike is even more of an advantage to him
the last lap in the 200 was crazy... but it wasn't herrin's fault. westby came into him. and come on, there are 5 riders that are inchs away from eachother all upwards of 175 mph trying to draft eachother, i can't believe they only got into eachother once!
as far as herrin's carelessness.... i think that had a lot to do with danny eslick last year. almost all of those "incidents" involved him last year. personally, i think eslick is the man. i love him. he's *****-to-the-wall all the time. i can't believe he tucked the front (seriously what is the deal with all the tires this year?!) on the straight.
and there were a few hick-ups in superbike too. a lot of bikes went down. i was sad to see pegram's new beemer go down, i wanted to see if he would make a run on it considering the beemer's motor and the fact that daytona has so many straights.
how bad was E-boz's luck. out of the 200, out of superbike, because of mechanical issues....
i'm stoked for gp to start this weekend. all i saw on speed was the motogp race.... didn't see a moto2 or 125 race? anyone know if they'll be on later in the week?

We'll have to see how long Eslick stays in that class. With EBR racing producing bikes and Richie Morris,Bruce Rothsmeyer (RIP) and Danny having a pretty good relationship with Erik Buell. I wouldn't doubt seeing Eslick on one of his bikes next year in Superbike.
