+1 on all advice
Also make sure your controls are lined up with your hand/arm angle. I'm one who rides with two fingers on the levers all the time. Adjust your levers so your fingers don't have to reach up or down to operate. Make them a natural extension of your hand
Here's a mental exercise. Sit in a hard back chair. Now imagine you're a jockey. Close your eyes and do the hand and body movements like you're riding a horse.
Relax. Stay loose in the hips. Stay loose in the shoulders. Stay loose in the elbows.
I used to go through the same thing. Once I felt the bike moving under me as it was soaking the bumps and such out of the road and it wasn't being transferred up the forks and into my upper body through my wrists. It felt great
It does take some adjusting. Some thinking

Misti nailed it!
I was doing the speed limit on my local track, I mean back road; I was blown away when another sport bike rider waved at me as he went through the apex of his turn! After training to use my legs more, the comfort is way better, the control is impressive!

YAY!!! So glad!! It makes a HUGE difference to grip the tank with your lower body so that you can relax the grip on your wrists and hands!! Wooohoooo!!
