Corner fast ... don't crash! (Important update pg4 body steer)
That is an excellent video about counter steering, thank you for posting that woot :-)
At 2:00 it describes and shows the thing I have often said that counter steering is only done briefly as you turn and once in the turn
you let the bike track naturally with the bend ... it's quite hard to visualise this but this video shows it well,
the initial counter steer is only performed to get the bike over at the correct angle and once tracking with the bend your steering input is neutral :-)
Neutral - or - at times still counter steering... he mentions that you have to balance the outwards throw of the corner, with the inwards fall/lean initiated by the counter steer. If you go fast enough you might need to add more counter steer...
I think.

ya - I enjoyed them as well.

Greetings to all! I have just entered the realm of trus sport bikes with the purchase of a 93 CBR1000F. A lot went into the decision to get this one,I have a Concours that is still good after a 10 year relationship, but the test ride blew me away and I was very casual with this machine! I will add that I did some homework by checking this site which helped decide . Only had it two days and with job being what it is and rain every day we havent gotten aqainted yet, I took vacation next week and after an oil change,wash/wax/ and general checkup maintenance plan to spend most of the week in the Colorado mountains .....Looking forward to both this forum and next week on my new(to me) hurricane !
Good read...luckily for me when I was younger my friend who showed me how to ride explained CS to me perfectly...it really comes naturally but the more you understand it the better control you will have when trying to avoid dangerous street situations.

If you are aware of what is happening when you counter steer it really does improve your handling and in return the safety of riding on public roads.
edit- and yes as you accelerate through the turn additional countersteer/lean is needed to balance the additional outward throw caused by the increased speed. :S
With time and experience and proper knowledge we can all safely take hi-speed turns with a perfect smooth line....it's almost better then sex

Once you do get the hang of it , you will find that you can put your bike exactly where you want it without the risk of running off the road or cutting corners being an issue anymore ...
If you are wide ....you can haul them in with relative ease ...and if you are to tight it is easy to let them drift out using CS ...
practice mate ...

It is worth practicing to remember ....many do not realize how much easier it is to get your bike to do and go where you want , especially at speed in bends ..using CS ....

Been said several times in this thread we countersteer and don't even realize it. I'd guess it's almost dangerous to tell someone who has riding experience about it because they might think too much about it. To the point where they stop doing what came naturally already.
Now if Juliet or someone would work on some low speed tips, that'd be appreciated. I'm finding myself taking turns at speed so I don't have the low speed wobble
