Nothing wrong w/ Joe Rocket gear. I have a Joe Rocket textile jacket w/ full CE armor. I really only wear it for commuting when the temps are incredibly high. Otherwise, I prefer all leather gear.

FWIW, since you mention the brand, I also have an all leather Icon Daytona jacket. Its extremely durable & very good quality. Icon jackets tend to fit on the full/relaxed side for their sizes...just fyi.

I also own Alpinestars 2pc suit. A* tend to fit more closely for their sizes & are high quality as well.

Don't rule out used gear either. Often, there are deals to be had on good used gear on CL, eb*y, etc.

-helmet? get one that fits well.
-gloves: ok
-what are you wearing for shoes?
https://cbrforum.com/forum/sights-n-...115268/page45/
at a minimum something over the ankle that you can kick holes in stuff and drop a hammer on your foot and not care. I personally rock icon super duty boots, probably will not prevent the above injury, but will prevent a lot of others.
^low speed cripple accidents covered.

-Then jacket and pants.
^flying save your life gear.

I personally do not care for mesh from personal experience, and will wear a perforated leather jacket in 110* weather.

a lot of the online retailers have summer vented/perf/mesh gear on closeout/clearance.

At the very least, get something boot-wise that will cover your ankle...like low-top work boots. If you ever put your bike down w/ ankles unprotected, they'll scrape across the pavement like a cheese-grater.

Patience and e-bay/craiglist will work wonders for a budget. I outfitted my wife for less than $150.
$60 for "new" chaps, $30 for a set of Frank Thomas boots that had been worn 3 times,
$50 for a new HJC that was the seller's birthday present and didn't fit right,
$5 for a used leather jacket at the Goodwill store around the corner.

My gear is ancient (but well cared for), but I scooped up a pair of Sidi's for $70 and
a set of Bluetooth intercoms for $95. Although I prefer leather, I also picked up a
Hein Gerke perforated-textile for the really hot weather for $40.

The deals are out there, just got to spend a little time checking regularly for your
wish-list.

+1 Ern....patience, know exactly what you want. Go hunting... I got a pair of Gaerne sport GBS boots for $57...those retail $299, the seller purchase wrong size & he worn it once...****, little Lysol...done. Got a pair of Teknic leather gloves, brand new...$15 bucks....eBay or CL...Purchase a pair of icon denim strong arm pants $33

So for the time being...wear something temp. for max protection. Work boots better than tennis shoe? Long sleeve better than tank top...LOL...
