Thumbs up Buying a Helmet

Hey Guys

not sure in the write area.

Im a new rider and i am in the process of buying a helmet. Ive been leaning towards a SHOEI XR1100 , but i also like the Bell Helmets. Looking at some direction or other advice on helmets that use have had experience with. I live in Australia.

Whatever you get, you should try it, for size, before you buy it.
With the strap secured, you should be able to sharply, shake your head.
The helmet should fit snug and follow your movement, without delays.
If it hesitates, it is too big.

You do not want a helmet to roll side-ways and obscure your vision.

As far as brand, every manufacturer's lids are shaped a little differently.
If you stick with a reputable brand, it's more about fitting your dome.
Try on a bunch of different brands, looking for pressure points, etc.
You'll find yourself gravitating, after a bit, to a particular brand/style.

After that, then see what options you might be interested in.
Vs weight, communications, removable liners, etc.

The Shoei's are excellent helmets. I have two Shoei's & have been completely happy w/ them.

Try on as many helmets as possible to see what fits you best. They are not all created equally in size or quality. Top tier helmets like Shoei, Arai, Suomy, etc, tend to be lighter weight & fit better than less expensive helmets. That lighter weight translates to less neck strain, especially on longer rides.

If you are unable to purchase the helmet you want locally, be sure that wherever you buy it from that you can return it. Many online co's won't except returns.

Thanks for the advice , i just spent the last 2 hours trying on all different types of helmets and couldnt find a better fit then the SHOEI , It was a bit more expensive then the others but felt the best and have heard good things about them from alot of reviews.
