Default 1987 streetfighter

Thought I'd post some pictures of how I bought my bike last week.
Gave it a nice hand wash before making pictures (with my phone though).

Specs: stock 1987, but as a note; all is stock (or presumed stock) unless stated otherwise.
- 1995 CBR1000F engine
- mesh air 'filters' (insanely loud)
- Ixil muffler (very loud)
- tank risers
- 'superbike' handle bar
- Ducati 748/916 rear end
- steel braided brake and clutch lines (look new, so guess they're not original equipment)
- digital speed/rev/temp gauge

Thinking of pulling it apart next winter for mainly a more sturdy rear swing arm and upside down front forks, a re-spray (probably matte white with some matte blue details like wheel striping, though I do like the black/yellow theme, just not the checkers and what's supposed to look like lightning bolts), a better working gauge cluster, and a better looking headlight.

And that fourwheeler you see there is my 1984 Volvo 760 GLE Automatic, 2.849cc of V6 fury!

Thumbs up

Hey stefan2m, I missed this post, I seen the pic of the bike in one of your replys to something else and I got curious. Have to admit I'm not a big SF fan but this does look 'the shizzle' cuz. Didn't think the fat ole chunky CBR frame would suit that treatment, but I have to admit it does look good.

As you say about the checkers and the lightning bolts, yep totally agree, lose them and all should look a heck of alot better.

USD Forks would definitely look great on an ole schooler like this. A mate done it to his 98 Suzie 1200 (R'se) Bandit he fully customised complete with 'Tui beer' orange paint work with GSXR USD forks (can't find the friggin pic's anywhere in my PC to load up! will do when I find them)

Keep up the good work and keep everyone updated with your changes, Cheers Andy

PS. as for the volvo, my biker brother had one of these........the only dammed 'tinne' he would get into, he called it the thirsty brick lol.

I've read at CF that it doesn't get simpler than a Honda, and I can actually fit any Honda usd forks quite easily.
So I'll be on the lookout for a set I can source locally... and hope the guy wasn't talking b/s.

The Volvo is a thirsty one, yeah... but I'm planning on getting a lpg conversion, that'll cut my fuel expenses in less than halve of what it's now; regular gas goes for EUR 1.67 (and up) per liter, lpg is about EUR 0.72 per liter (and you thought your gas was expensive, lol).
The French V6 is a troublesome engine, and when it goes kaboom... I'm thinking 5 cylinder 20v
