Default Winter gear

I ride year round and last year i only had my summer gear which sucked in 20* weather. So this year im preping.

I bought BILT Tornado Waterproof Textile Motorcycle Gloves . They are wind/water proof and so far have worked great for 50*day we had. They are a little thick and are bit difficult to put on with a jacket because the cuff is fairly narrow. I have noticed on the top of the finger where the knuckles bend is starting to fray after a week of use. If it worsens i will send it back becuase the come with a 5 year warranty. for the money these gloves are great and i cant wait to use them in december.

I bought this baclava and it works great. It doesnt actually look like a darth vader helmet when you put it on so dont worry. The only thing i dont like about it is the mouth portion. They put a mesh over the mouth to aid with breathing but it lets a lot of cold air in around the lips, lower nose area. I plan on sewing a small peice of fabric over it to elimnate that issue. I wish they had made it a little smaller so it was a bit tighter but other than that its great. It is also wind and water proof.

I ride year-round as well. For cool days, keeping my neck warm seems to help a lot. I wear a regular Buff around my neck. It can be configured in over a dozen ways...as a neck gaiter, up over the mouth/nose/ears, as a balaclava, as a cap, etc.

For colder days, I wear a turtle fur/polar fleece neck gaiter & silk glove liners.

Don't know if you're a hunter or not but having a hand-warmer in your pocket can be a great thing for warming up your hands as well. The instant type are ok but the Zippo type is better... http://www.zippo.com/Products/handWarmer.aspx .

My gear for riding takes me down to 25-28 farhenheit. I'm good for about
an hour of sporting, before it starts to fail.

Yuppers, on the neck gaiter. The helmet is enough for my head, I'm looking for
a seal on the chin/back-of-neck. Don't like my mouth covered, fogs easier, imo.

Leather mandrian-collared jacket, chaps and Sidi boots.
+1 on the silk glove-liners, too.

Quality thermals under everything. Mereno wool socks, thick-weave.

I'm thinking of going to a Gerbing heated vest liner, it should work with my
present gear. Hoping that will put me into the 'unlimited-time' class,
i.e. I stop when I'm tired, not cold.

With my leathers, oiled and conditioned, I can take any but the most
extreme rain, as well.
