Default RE: Quick question about tires

Pilot Race are exactly what they say. I along with many others run pilot race tires at the track with 26psi in them. Pilot Powers are designed for a heck of alot more mileage and are to be run at around 32-36psi on the street. Race tires heat up slower than street tires hence racers using tire warmers before they go out, but eventually they heat to operating temps far above street tires. Race tire compounds also arent made to go through the heat up while riding and then cool down while your getting a burger process like street tires are. Race tires are in good condition for about 20-25 heat up and cool down cycles or ruffly two 2-3 track days before they start to suffer from blue grooving around the outside of the tire and becoming semi greasy from the intense heat they build up. Sorry for dragging on but people are also sometimes mislead into thinking a race tire will stick better on the road than a street tire will. Race tires have to reach maximum temp before they are effective; race tires cannot maintain this temp by blasting down a twisty road for ten miles. Unlike at a track where you spend 75% of your time at maximum lean angle( if you can really ride), which produces the large amount of heat. Another thing is the pavement on a state or city street isnt made of the highest quality pavement like most of the high-end race tracks are.(ex. barber, laguna seca)
