Default Quick Question

Anyone help? .If a battery is dead could it be a cause of a reg/rec getting really hot? Thanks

if your voltage regulator isnt working correctly it might not be charging the battery so yes.

yep its a very common problem with F2/F3/F4/900's .. so replace your regulator, charge your battery or buy a new one if its just completly wasted then you should be fine

I would do a little checking with a meter first. The reg/rec could be really hot for a couple reasons;

1. The alternator is putting out too much power.
2. The battery is dead and the reg/rec is being overworked.
3. It could just be a bad reg/rec.

Here is a link that abadfish postedwith some instructions onhow to go through and test various components of the charging system. Reg/rec are little expensive and it doesn't hurt to do a couple tests before you go out and buy one.
